Sidepiece Sarasota Concert reviews
Weezer was as expected
I attended this show with a group of people as an evening out. That said, the group played alright, highlighting the strong guitars, drum solos, and creative lyrics fans have some to expect in their angst-filled, garage band sound. I still found the show average at best, and admittedly, I knew only a few songs of their catalogue going into the show.
The entire evening lasted little more than an hour (with encores, up to 75 minutes exactly), or perhaps they were more concerned about getting to Bonnaroo, which was the next evening. Still, as the group matures, their music fails to age gracefully. This seemed to be their biggest conflict.
I did appreciate the energy brought to the set. I found it difficult to believe a 30 year old man screaming about how "he can do whatever the he** he wants." I would hope so, given your age. There is no need to jump around throwing guitars, sound equipment, and cameras (all of which he did on this evening) to prove your point. It was a bit like watching a 5 year old throw a tantrum for about an hour, even though he should know better.
First off, I am not a big Sidepiece fan. Overall, it was a fairly disappointing concert.
